What we publish
Tiny Weekends is a local guide for families in New Castle County, Delaware: a weekly email, a calendar of family events, first-timer guides to parks, libraries, museums and other places, and directories of summer camps, classes, birthday-party venues, and licensed child-care centers. One family owns and edits it. There are no comments, forums, or user-generated pages.
Where facts come from
Every listing traces to a named source: the organizer's own website or calendar, a public agency's published dataset, or a visit by the editor. We store the source address with each fact and show it on the page. We do not publish rumors, anonymous tips, or claims we cannot point to a source for.
How events are checked
Events are collected from organizers' published calendars, then read against the organizer's own page before they appear. Automated checks flag anything that does not match; a person reviews flagged items. Listings that cannot be confirmed are held back rather than published with a caveat.
How guides are checked
Place guides carry a "last verified" date and the pages they were verified against. Guides are re-checked on a schedule and whenever a source page changes. Facts we could not re-confirm are removed, not left standing.
Government records
Some pages repeat public records as published by the State of Delaware, for example child-care licensing status. Our rules for these are strict:
- We reproduce the state's own words and values verbatim, never a paraphrase or a summary.
- Every such fact carries the date we read it and a link to the state's own listing.
- We add no score, grade, rank, badge, or characterization. Where the state defines a term, we quote the state's definition and attribute it.
- We say plainly what the record does not show, for example that Delaware publishes only visits where a finding was made.
- We refresh these records daily from the state's published dataset. If our copy is more than 48 hours old, the section is hidden rather than shown stale.
- We do not present a business's absence of findings as a "clean record."
Restraint
We are a directory and a guide, not a review site. We do not rate or rank businesses. We separate facts from the editor's opinions, and label opinions as such — in the weekly email, our picks and the reasons behind them appear under "Why this made the cut." We under-promise: hours, prices, and availability are always stated as "confirm with the venue."
Corrections and replies
Anyone can request a correction at hello@tinyweekends.co. Our corrections policy applies to every page and every email, and gives any named business a right of reply.
Review before launch
New categories of content that name specific businesses are reviewed before launch for sourcing, wording, and attribution. This page is updated when our practices change.
