Tiny Weekends

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 30, 2026

What We Collect

When you sign up for the Tiny Weekends newsletter, we collect:

  • Email address (required)
  • First name (optional)
  • Zip code (required, used to personalize event recommendations by distance)
  • Children's birth years (optional, used to match age-appropriate events)
  • Content preferences (optional, e.g. indoor vs. outdoor, nap schedule)

When you submit an event, we collect the event details you provide and optionally your email address for follow-up.

Email Confirmation (Double Opt-In)

When you sign up, we send a confirmation email to the address you provided. Your subscription is not active until you click the confirmation link. This ensures we only email people who have explicitly consented, and that the address belongs to you. Confirmation links expire after 24 hours.

Bounce and Complaint Handling

We monitor email delivery feedback to maintain list quality. If an email permanently bounces (undeliverable address), we suppress the address from future sends. If a recipient marks a newsletter as spam, we immediately remove them from all future mailings. This keeps our sender reputation healthy and ensures we only email people who want to hear from us.

Browser-Stored Data

To personalize your experience without requiring a login, we store the following in your browser's local storage:

  • An anonymous session identifier (to track which events you interact with)
  • Your zip code and children's age information (for filtering)
  • Your family preferences (nap schedule, indoor/outdoor preference)
  • Events you've saved or expanded

This data stays in your browser and is not transmitted to us unless you interact with an event (e.g., clicking for details or directions). We use these anonymous engagement signals to understand which types of events are most useful to families and to improve our editorial selections.

How We Use It

We use your information to:

  • Send you the weekly Tiny Weekends newsletter
  • Personalize event recommendations by location and child age
  • Estimate drive times from your zip code to event locations
  • Improve our event coverage and editorial quality based on aggregate engagement

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We will never spam you.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate Tiny Weekends:

  • Brevo — to deliver newsletter and confirmation emails via SMTP relay. Your email address is transmitted to Brevo solely for message delivery.
  • Cloudflare — to host and serve this website, and to provide basic analytics (page views and referrers; no personal data or cookies)
  • Google Fonts — to serve web fonts (your browser makes a request to Google's servers when loading the page)
  • Zippopotam.us — to convert zip codes to approximate coordinates for distance filtering (only your zip code is sent, not your identity)

These services process data only as necessary to provide their functionality.

Data Storage and Security

Your subscriber data is stored on infrastructure we own and operate. We do not store passwords — no account or login is required to use Tiny Weekends. All connections to our site are encrypted via HTTPS.

Your Choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. If you'd like us to delete all data associated with your email address, contact us and we'll remove it within 7 days.

Children's Privacy

Tiny Weekends is a service for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The age information we collect refers to subscribers' children and is provided voluntarily by the parent or caregiver.

Changes

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll note it in the newsletter. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
