What to Expect
Grove Park is a neighborhood park, not an attraction, and that's the appeal. It's a few blocks off the boardwalk at the west end of Rehoboth Avenue along the canal, it's free, it's open sunup to sundown, and it has something the beach doesn't: mature trees over the playground. On a July afternoon when everyone's had enough sun, that matters more than the equipment does. The playground has swings, slides, climbing, and a small separate tot area. The city lists picnic pavilions, a playground, a shuffleboard court, and public restrooms here — and the restrooms are the real reason this beats a pocket park with a toddler in tow.
Tuesdays change the character of the place. The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, and the city blocks pavilion rentals on Tuesdays from May through October because of it. Expect a crowd and a full park. One thing to check before you drive: the city's own event listings describe the market as being 'at Grove Park,' but the listing address on those same entries shows the Convention Center parking lot at 229 Rehoboth Avenue. That contradiction is still on the city's site as of August 2026 — confirm the location on the city calendar the morning of.
If you want the park for a birthday, both pavilions rent. The large one seats 64 at eight picnic tables plus benches around the sides; the small pavilion has one table. You can grill if you bring a portable grill and take it out with you. No vehicles and no amplified sound, and a rental doesn't close the park to anyone else.
Who It's Best For
The playground covers the spread — swings, slides, and climbing for elementary kids, with a separate small tot area for the under-3 crowd. It's a neighborhood park rather than a destination, so older kids will burn through it faster than the beach or the boardwalk. The shuffleboard court is a decent bonus for the 8-and-up set.

Only the pavilions cost anything, and only if you reserve one: small pavilion $75 for four hours or less and $125 for five or more; large pavilion $100 and $150; both together $150 and $250. Stockley Park's pavilion is $75. Booking a pavilion does not give you exclusive rights to the park.

Not confirmed. The city's parks page lists Grove Park's address at 3 Grove Street on Shaw Circle but says nothing about parking there, and the city's parking section didn't load anything beyond a department landing page when we checked. Downtown Rehoboth is metered in season — assume you're finding a street space, and check the city's meter and permit pages before a Tuesday market run. The parking office is at 1 City Hall Drive, 302-227-6184, open daily 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. from May 15 to September 15.

Not confirmed. The city's restroom page doesn't mention changing tables at Grove Park. The only baby changing stations it names are at the Delaware Avenue comfort station on the boardwalk.

- ✓ Cape Henlopen State Park's Gordons Pond entrance is just past the city's northern limit at the end of Ocean Drive, and Delaware Seashore State Park is about six miles south, if you want a bigger day. Both charge a vehicle entrance fee; bicycles are exempt.
