The monthly Second Sunday turns the galleries into a hands-on day—art-making stations and room to explore techniques and materials. Older kids can go deeper on the making side. It runs 10 to 4, drop-in, and activities are included with admission—individual activities are first-come, so hit the popular ones early.

Rockwood opens its below-stairs spaces—the kitchens, work rooms, and passages servants used from the 1850s onward. A different angle than the standard house tour, and the rarely-seen rooms hold older kids' attention. $10 ($8 for county residents), RSVP ahead; Sunday at 1.

Robotics Workshop

Free, and aimed at the 9-to-14 crowd. Charter School of Wilmington's Force Robotics team runs a hands-on intro to building robots and beginner coding—kids do the engineering, not just watch a demo. Registration required; Saturday at 3:30 at Kirkwood Library.

Netting in the Marsh

Free, no registration—just show up. Kids wade in with dip nets and pull up tadpoles, fish, and snails straight from the marsh. It's a quick 30 minutes of hands-on outdoor time, so pair it with something else. Saturday at 1.
