This Tiny Weekend
Fireworks, and shade for the rest
Friday's got options too—go early at Nemours or Longwood, and save the fireworks for after dark.
Fri, July 3 ☀️ 102° Clear·Sat, July 4 ⛅ 98° Partly cloudy·Sun, July 5 ⛅ 84° Overcast
Start Here
4th of July Fireworks
Sat 6:00 PM · ages 0+ · UD Athletic Complex · outdoor 🚗 35 min from Wilmington
No registration, on a big open field at UD Athletic Complex — Saturday at 6. The evening start means you're outside once the day cools off. Bring water and a blanket, stake out space early, and let older kids roam before the show.
Why this made the cut
Fireworks anchor the holiday, with room to spread out on the field. An after-dark show is the right call — it leaves the daytime for the indoor picks.
Outdoor No registration
A quieter pick
Family Fridays at Nemours Estate
Fri 11:15 AM · Nemours Estate · indoor
Cool and low-key — the easy one when the heat is a lot.
The combination of hands-on activities and movement may help keep younger children engaged.
